Using a Save Key With MS Office

What does a save key really do? For many, the save key is an important piece of information that they cannot live without. When you’re designing your website, your web designer needs to have the ability to take a user’s data and put it into the site where they are able to view it at their convenience. But how do they know what this save key is and why do they need it?

A save key, also known as a motion lock or a dynamic key, is one of the features that your parent company takes the time to create and place into your web hosting account. The save key isn’t exactly the same as your FSA id (which is a legally binding signature you t sign). Instead, a save key lets you go back to a previous page or function from where you left off when you were in the middle of an application.

This saves you time because you no longer have to input the long URL for previous pages, which is something many users tend to forget. However, there is an even more important tip to keep in mind. The same key must be added to the database BEFORE you place any content on your web page. In order to make sure your content is secure, make sure that you also add a temporary password that can’t be changed unless you remove it.

An important tip to remember about the save key is that it is very easy to create. It may not be in the database, but your web designer should still be able to add it into the code. If you’ve been paying your web host for years, you probably have access to the database which can be done easily. For most of your users, however, it’s just smarter to use a free application to get this done for you. In fact, it’s recommended you use a free application even if you have protected your database with a save key.

There is another thing to keep in mind about the save function. If someone starts the process to save the key and they accidentally hit the return key, they will be prompted to enter a partial completed save instead of fully completing it. This partial save will be stored on their computer and it can be accessed if the person wants to restore their file. If they have already started editing the file and didn’t want to lose anything, they can hit the return key and the file will be saved as it was originally. However, if the person started the save and accidentally ended it without hitting return, then they are still prompt to enter a partial save and they are given the option to start over or not.

A save key also allows you to add information to a database. Say for example that you have a class that you want to save and you want to make sure that the student with the most points for the test actually gets to take it. You could add this information into the database with the save key and then at the end of the semester, the system will automatically remove the person with the fewest points and offer an award to the student with the most points for the save key. However, you will want to add this feature to the database with every save key that you add.
